How it works

Enter body weight, belt speed or pace, incline, and active minutes. The calculator estimates oxygen demand first, then converts that estimate into kilocalories.

Formula

Calories = VO₂ (ml/kg/min) × weight (kg) ÷ 1,000 × 5 × minutes. Select Walking or Running to control the equation. The walking equation is intended for speeds up to 6 km/h; the running equation is intended for speeds at or above 8 km/h. The selected equation stays in use, with a scope warning outside its intended range.

Example

A 70 kg person at 10 km/h for 30 minutes covers 5 km. Adding incline raises the equation's oxygen and calorie estimate while distance stays the same.

FAQ

Why is this different from the treadmill display?

Machines may use different assumptions or sensor inputs. Treat both as estimates, especially if the machine does not know your current weight.
